National Security and Sustainability

Abstract

Despite the expenditure of $1 trillion per year, the USA is less secure than ever before. Beyond conventional threats are those attributable to rapid climate destabilization and unpredictable high-consequence events with long-term global consequences. The paper discusses one response to such threats that promotes local and regional resilience as a coordinated network of sites, cities, and projects.
